Google Finance Updates Securities Indexing

Google Finance

Google has made a large scale update to how they index securities for Google Finance.
A Google Web Search Help thread has a response from a Googler named Albert who said:
Thanks for reporting this issue! We recently made some large scale changes to the way we index our securities for Google Finance that would enable us to deal with data issues like this more easily.

Mobile AdSense Publishers Need To Update Ad Code By May 1, 2012

The Google AdSense blog announced they are doing away with the AdSense for Mobile Content ad type and replacing it with the core content ad creation section.

Google said they are doing this to “make it easier for publishers to use AdSense to monetize mobile web pages, we’ve migrated all mobile ad unit sizes, including the mobile banner ad unit, into the core product.”

As you can see, the “mobile banner” option is now in the core “content” ad unit create ad section:

The new AdSense ad code automatically formats the ads for the device. We will continue to support high-end ad requests from our AdSense for mobile content product until May 1, 2012. We strongly encourage publishers who have designed mobile web pages for high-end devices to use the new AdSense ad code to avoid disruptions to service. Note that publishers with mobile websites built for WAP browsers should continue to monetize using AdSense for mobile content.
It seems like the feature phones should continue to use the AdSense for mobile content and the smartphone templates should use the new basic content ad format. Which shows again how Google is trying not to differentiate between desktop and smartphone users, – or at least there is confusion there – but that is for a different blog post.
There is a lot of confusion around this at WebmasterWorld. One AdSense publisher said “you will not need to replace any Adsense code for high end devices” but is that true?
It would be great if Google sent out automated emails to sites that need to change things.

AT&T Galaxy S II Android 4.0 Update Gets Closer to Rolling Out

Just a few short days ago, the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Galaxy S II Skyrocket leaked out, a build that we think is pretty close to, if not the final version of the software itself. Today, another Android 4.0 update for an AT&T Galaxy S II device has leaked out and this time it’s an even bigger one. Yes, the Galaxy S II Android 4.0 update has arrived and it appears that it too could be the real deal.

RootzWiki has leaked the software to the surface and it’s directly from Samsung.

While this is great for those that root their phones, it’s also fantastic for those that are waiting for the official roll out as that date has seemingly gotten closer with this find.

Those who own a rooted Galaxy S II on AT&T should have no problem following the instructions to get the software up and running and from the comments, it seems like it’s working like a charm.

For those that aren’t yet rooted or are hesitant to, you may just want to hold off on downloading this because like I said, this is generally a good sign as far as official roll out dates are concerned.

Remember, the Galaxy S II Android 4.0 update is already rolling out for some users and that means that it’s only a matter of time before carrier specific devices like the AT&T Galaxy S II get the official love from Samsung.

Before you install this leaked update, keep in mind, there is always the possibility that something could go wrong with your phone.

No one wants a bricked phone and we can’t be responsible if it happens to you so please, be careful if you do decide to take the plunge.
